Challenge Yourself!

Today I decided to challenge myself a little bit. You know how you get in a rutt and just can't think of a design. Well I have come to realize that I do not have to always be the one to think of the design but to look for a challenge, a design that is already done. So Magnolia put out this layout and asked crafters to make something using their design. I thought I would make a little flip album. I took two pieces of chipboard and cut them to size and covered with this yummy K&Co paper which is so glittery (and you know how much I love the bling!). Then I stamped my sweet Tilda on WW cardstock as well as on another one of the K&Co coordinating papers so I could paperpiece her outfit. I used the regal rose and celery papers throughout the front. The little scallop piece- yes, I did that with my slit punch- at first I put little holes in it but didn't like it b/c it didn't really pop too much so I made another and just did a little design on it to make it pop (did it work?). I am happy with it. The inside of the flip book will all have coordinating papers: the ribbon is SU celery, rose, banana and then a dashes, dots & checks. So I am going to enter her in a contest to win Magnolia a magnolia stamp (wish me luck!) cause I think it came out nice.
Thanks for all the wonderful comments on my Father's Day cards- you are all so nice! Talk to you later!

Thoughts of Father

Well I thought I should pull out some of my new SU rubbah and give it a little whirl. This is Thoughts of Father and it is a set that I just fell in love with from the start. Now, my father passed away 8 years ago so I don't make cards for this even any longer but I could not resist this set. I made a couple different versions. This first one I used DP in rose red and then added celery. I stamped the image on watercolor paper and colored with my markers. I used the bordering blue for the car. Celery ribbon and the corner tab punch- LOVE that punch.
This one I stamped on watercolor and colored with my markers as well- but the car I used my 2 copic markers, that is all I have, just 2 both in gray. But they are nice. The paper is from a DCWV paper pack that I got some time ago- the brown looks like leather seats and that is why I chose it. I really like this set and it will actually be very versatile to make masculine cards for birthdays and such.
I want to wish you all a Happy Easter, I hope your weather is better than here in SE Michigan. We have gotten at least 7 inches of snow today and it is still coming down. What a weekend to look forward to......... Easter Eggs in the snow, at least the kids can find quite easily. That is all for now- have a good one all!

Birthday Beauty

Yes, today is my birthday so I had the inspiration to make a girly birthday card. And notice that I used Kimmie's sketch again since I had it sittin on my table and I liked it. I stamped the little flower tops from Polka Dots & Paisley and then stickled and blinged them, matted on celery. Then I colored the beauty, giving her brunette hair (like me!) and then a little stickle to her gift. Did you see her black boots- she is quite stylish. So- happy birthday to me! tee hee- I will have to find a special friend to get this card cause it can't sit in my card box and not be seen!

If you've not signed up for my BLOG CANDY check out the post for Wednesday 12th and post a comment. Good luck!

Birthday Blog Candy

It is my birthday on Friday- I got lucky because it is a leap year so I get a Friday birthday two years in a row! I love Friday birthdays! Anyways, I thought I would give away a little something for my birthday. So, do you want some goodies in the mail? I am giving away a sizzix embossing folder that says "For you", a bunch of polka dot ribbon and then some stamped images of Precious Moments, Hedgehogs, Magnolias and some Bellas too! All you have to do is leave ME a special birthday wish AND tell me what your FAVORITE birthday gift has ever been. I will put all the comments posted to this thread in a drawing on Monday 3/17 and pick the winner!
For those of you who could care less about blog candy (are there some of you out there?) here is a card I made for Kraftin Kimmie's Challenge this week. I thought it was a cute card and I had fun using someone else's sketch to do it cause it did seem easier. I did change the direction of the sketch cause it worked better for my image. This little boo boo bear I got on SCS image pif. I am so glad to be using some of these images rather than let them sit idle and stack up. Lord knows I have enough of them. So that is it for now! Check back and I will have some more fun projects and I actually got my cuttlebug out and played with it tonight too!

My sweet Edwin

I had to show you another Magnolia card because I got some images from some ladies and I was so excited to get them colored and make some boy cards. I always find it more difficult to make boy/masculine cards. This card could easily be used for a young boy/man to cheer them up. Or even as a birthday card if you put Happy Birthday inside.
I had a great day today- went out for breakfast with my hubby, just the two of us and then spent some time on SCS. I have been getting some fun stuff by trading with the ladies. Give it a try! Then I met a fellow SCS on there and we decided, spur of the moment to get together! Yepper- drove out to the Lansing area and met Sandra (Sandee74) and went to Hobby Lobby where I bought a hole whopping $16. But I got a couple grey copics since SU doesn't have grey and I wanted to give em a try.
Hope you are all staying warm and having a good weekend!
tata for now!

Smell the Flowers

We got a bunch of snow AGAIN, I am so tired of snow............ it just can not stop soon enough. So this little guy made me think of SPRING which should be right around the corner, right? He is a whipper snapper if I am not mistaken and I got him on SCS image swap. I just think he is the cutest little thing! The paper is also very springy and I got it in a friendship exchange and I didn't see a name on it. So I am kind of useless to you all tonight! But I had to share this little guy in hopes that he will make you think of spring as well. Giggle, now you want to know what I did? I pulled out my designer scissors- yep, you know the ones that you cut the edges with! That is how I made the matte for the dog, used SU ribbon and then my sizzix for the ovals. How can you not be happy looking at him.
Take care and enjoy- oh and Denise- good luck tomorrow (she is havin a BABY!)

Hey Cupcake!

I got this cupcake image on the SCS PIF thread- is it not just the cutest? I usually do not do food (well, except my new fruit) as it is not something that I find easy to do. But this cupcake was big and chunky and I thought I could handle it. Plus, it will make some cute birthday cards............. The paper I got in a swap as well so I am not sure what brand it is- the other cardstocks are SU regal rose and chocolate. I colored with SU markers and then I used strawberry stickles on it. I have really gotten to love those little bottles too! I think I could use them on everything. Here is a closer picture of the top of the cupcake with stickles. Doesn't it look yummy- like it has crystals on the top. Hm..... what flavor is it? I spent some time today making cards with the images that I colored this last week while watching American Idol and so it will give me things to show you this week. As you can tell, I am trying to make an effort to post a little more often. It won't be daily but maybe every other to every 2nd day. Oh- and I thinking you all might like some BLOG CANDY soon too! So, I thinking about WHAT to post.
Take care!
