Baubles and Trinkets..... oh my!

I could not help myself ladies, this here is a holiday charm that I made. i got a package of Tim Holtz facets and had to try out his tecniques from his 12 tags of christmas. The largest facet I colored the edges with alcohol ink and then I actually stamped the snowflakes on it with archival ink which I immediatly daubed off- and it left the trace effects of the snowflakes- attach to white cardstock and this is what you get! I love it. Then I put together some beads and baubles to attach to my keychain along with some other facets that I adhered to some graphic 45 paper- isn't it purty? I have no idea what I will do with it though.............

So then I remembered all those acrylic "things" that I have from Tim Holtz and started adhering them to various Graphic 45 again and aren't they cute little charms? I was thinking that this would be sweet as a little bracelet mixed with some other baubles and such. I thoroughly enjoyed making them- Oh, these would be cute on a little tag for the holidays or a card too! So many options to explore.
So that is it for me today- I hope you are all looking forward to the New Year!

Cheerful Day!

Good day! Aren't these cards cheerful and fun? As you can tell this week I have been working on some fun colored cards. I know it is not warm or spring yet..... but I just can't help myself. It is cold and blistery here and this is my ticket to warmth. LOL!

For both of the cards I used the Mojo Monday sketch. This week you got to use a round sketch or a square sketch and I would typically use a square one (they are easier, doncha think?). So I figured I would go ahead and give myself a little challenge and strive to make the circular card. And after finishing the first one I thought it was so darned cute that I had to make another one. I have some clear envelopes that I figured I could slide these into and mail out- and won't that make the postal workers smile?

So there it is for today- some sunshine and and wishes! Have a fabulous day: we are off to spend some family time together before the kids go back to school.

Good Tidings!

Phew! Well I don't know about you but we had a whirlwind of a few days here! Alot of family, alot of food, and some relaxation. We stay home for Christmas day, have for many years because when the kids were little we always wanted to be home. They are older now but we still enjoy our day at home. This card is another sketch challenge for Verve, I think it is week 3, the stamp is from Stampin Up!

Keepin it simple

Hey, are you like me and have tons of designer paper? Paper that has been around for some time and maybe you have changed taste and it is not something you would typically use? Well I decided to use up some of my DCWV glitter papers. I have had them for a long time and really feel "guilty" having them sit and unused. I wanted to do a Keep it Simple card for birthdays and so this is the simple sketch I came up with. Nothing too extraordinary but nice. Do you need a challenge? Pull out some designer paper that you've not used in say 1 year- and use it.
Take care- and Merry Christmas!

The meaning of Christmas

Welcome ..... I am getting these next few days of blog posts done ahead of time so I am not struggling to keep up during the holidays. I am guessing traffic will slow down so I will be posting every couple of days. Today's card is a December Verve challenge, actually for the first week of December. As always, I adore the sketches and the team is taking turns creating them so there is a great deal of variety! Aren't the colors so perfect!

I thank you again for stopping in and hoping you are all getting yourselves ready for the holidays without all the stress!

Friends are wonderful................

Hello again- glad you all stopped in today! This card is made with a friend in mid, someone special that treats me so good. Matter of fact, she sent me this stamp set from ODBD and it is focused on FRIENDSHIP. A set of stamps to honor our friends and make them feel special. How can it get any better than that? I have no idea what the paper is to be honest with you, I got them sent to me from someone at one time. But the swirls I used one of my sizzix die cuts and then I used my liquid pearls on it- they look so nice!
So to all my friends- this message is for you!

Bringing out the old stuff!

Ok, so the other day I was just sitting around thinking and remembered that I had one of those sizzix dies of trees. So I pulled them out and put together some holiday DSP and went to work. I love how warm and countryish they turned out. So simple and fast too! So, take a look at all those old tools you have and think about making something fun, fresh and maybe simple out of them!
Have a fabulous weekend, my son is home from college so you know I am thrilled. Just finishing up some last minute things and getting ready for Christmas. Hoping for good weather too!

Peace from Knowing

Hello- well we got dumped on with snow this week! It is definately Christmas time in Michigan... and it is cold too! But this is the kids last week of school so my son will be home from college and I am so excited. I have missed him so much but am amazed at how fast it has gone! I can't believe it has been 3 1/2 months since I was crying and whining to you all about him leaving!

Ok, jest I forgot what I came for- this card is another one that I am doing for the ODBD challenge this week. I am so loving the reds/greens and the branches/beads- just nice simple and elegant don't you think? Well take care and happy shopping for those still doing their shopping!

Sweet Boys!

Good Morning! Today's card is a little break from the Christmas cards. It is me being proactive and planning ahead for my son's birthday in early January. I have had years that January 2nd comes and I don't have a card because I have been so busy with Christmas. Not this year! This card is made using the LOTV challenge sketch and of course one of their boys series images. The DSP is one of my basic grey paper packs from a couple years ago and a few buttons. Oh, oh, see that little orange circle around the sentiment- I made that by using a scallop circle and then in the middle of each of the petals I used a circle punch! I love how it looks.
Ok, enough for now- have a good day!

Simple Clean Christmas

So today's card is a little different isn't it? Firstly I used the Pixie Cottage sketch which I did like but struggled with alot. I was not sure where to put my sentiment! But I knew when I started I needed some simple holiday cards so did want to keep it simple. The colors were chosen as I didn't want to use typical traditional holiday colors so I could enter the card into the ABC DT Challenge and the Simon Says challenge. I added a little bling to give it a little umph!

Sweet Colorful Treats!

Today I have made a bunch of these holiday sour cream containers. Aren't they just adorable? And what about filling them with candy, setting them on your holiday table? Or, tucking a little gift in them and then using them as an advent: you know the 10 days of Christmas? Speaking of which, my youngests birthday is January 2nd and he has decided that he would like to do the 10 days of Jake's Birthday. Everyone gets him a little gift each day starting Dec 26th leading up to the 2nd and then he gets the BIG gift. LOL_ what do you think? Isn't he creative? I might have to come up with something to make it special this year. He is going to be 15!

Warmth of Christmas

Hello this Sunday evening! Boy- I looked at my last post and wondered what have I been up to? Well I can tell you it has not been crafting which has been a bummer........... alas, this weekend I did get some things done. This week in the mail I got some wonderful yummies! This memory box "Mistletoe" paper- are they not beautiful? Oh my- so beautiful and festive. And them my ODBD stamps- I have been participating in their challenges and I won a week or so ago! I love winning, it always gives me an excuse to buy more. :) You know what I mean. And my beading, I tell you- keep an eye out at HL because they have these with each holiday/season and I have gotten some beautiful colors and I thought they were so appropriate for this card- don't you? This card is being entered into the following challenges: Friday Sketcher and ODBD Challenge as I used this photo for inspiration:
I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Card Box

Today's project is one that they did a tutorial last week on SCS for. At first it looked a bit complicated but after watching the video I realized that it wouldn't be all that bad. LOL! So since I had the day off, thanks to the elections, I figured I would delve into this project and it really didn't take that long to cut it out and get it put together. I only had those 1000 Grands to put in it, sorry. If you wanted to fill the box with M&M's or something you could also put an acetate sheet in there to hold them in. I hope you enjoy it and just so you know, it was not that hard! Give it a try and I am sure you will make someone smile when you give it to them.

Waitin for Santa

Hello and thanks for stopping in today. I know I have not been really consistent this last week and shame on me! Today's card is another Christmas card, I have not mailed out 1 card yet. I do have them done but need to print the labels and get them all signed and such. Are you done yet?

The papers are from Basic Grey Figgy Pudding which is still one of my all time favorites! I colored Edwin with my copics.

Snowflakes and Baubles

I am such a slacker this week, I have done no crafting at all. Well I can't really say a slacker because I have been out and running errands, attending meetings and events every night this last week. Thus, my lack of posting because I had nothing to post, or so I thought. I have this little snowflake card! As you can see it is very simple and festive. Do you love my little acrylic bulbs? Well I found them at Michael's! Yep, if you recall I had little acorns for Thanksgiving and now i have bulbs! The card just has MS snowflakes with buttons and embossed backing! Thanks for stopping in and after shopping today- hope to make you some goodies to look at!

Sweet Pink Snowflakes

I just love the white on white cards with the embossing on them. I just think they look very elegant. So this is one that I had seen some time again- well the layered concept anyways. I embossed the lower layer with snowflakes and then swiss dots on the top layer. Then of course added some of my MS snowflakes (which I love!) Challenges:

Celebrate with a Cupcake or Giftcard!

I had seen this cupcake a couple months ago over on Claudia's blog and thought it was just so sweet but was afraid to give it a try because it looked complicated. But this weekend................ well, as you can see! And surprise- it is a gift card too! Isn't it just the cutest? I am not sure who will get it this year but I think that after all the work, it will need to be someone special. It took me at least 1.5hr to complete this, I know, alittle slow but what can I say?
So here is a close up of the top of the cupcake. When I showed it to my son he said, "Uh, why do you have flowers on the top of your cupcake?" Oh they just don't get it do they? I thought it was so pretty and then I added a little bit of stickles to make it shimmer.

I think that I am going to hide a little Christmas present inside her this year for someone special. Heidi

Vintage Travel

Hello everyone! Well it is Saturday after Thanksgiving and Woo- what a weekend. Did you fill up and eat lots of goodies? We are going on day #2 of Thanksgiving today. I can't wait- more yummy turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing! So just quickly, these cards were made with a stamp given to me by a friend of mine (thanks Faith!) because she did what so many of us do and that is buy two of them! So I promised to make a couple cards for her out of them. The one on the left is made with cherry cobbler and creams and the one on the right is made with some cute Tracy Buttler DSP. I think I like the cards, crisp and clean. Thanks for stopping on over and have a fabulous weekend!

Triple Play

Hello! Just stoppin in to post a simple project that I did. I have been busy organizing a local craft bazaar so I have honestly not done any crafting. But I thought I would make a couple tags for this weekend and wanted to keep them simple. So I decided to make it all with kraft/red/green. I am going to enter in the Verve triple play challenge as well as well as the ODBD holidays card. Keepin it short and hoping to do more crafting before the holiday!

Tobacco or tags

Last year my father in law was on a "search" for me for cigar boxes, our local cigar store gave him this pretty cool wooden box and he gave it to me. I thought it would be so pretty altered and set it aside- that was a year ago. Well I am participating in a craft show and thought that it would be a wonderful item to display my stuff in but it looked pretty rough, I wish I had a photo of it before I altered it.This is the outside of the box and along the left side it was covered with stickers so I had to strip them off but of course I couldn't get all the white off. So I took some Tim Holz distress ink and stained it and it matches the color of the box almost exactly. I then used brown satin ribbon and wrapped it around the end of the lid and also the front side of the box. If you look closely at the box there is a door along the front that opens- by putting the satin ribon on it I could hold the door shut. I didnt hide the Toro label just because it is gold and I thought it looked good and I wanted to leave some of the authentic look.
And of course, this is the inside of the box. I didn't really do a whole lot with it. Once again their were white stickers all over the lid and so I got as much off and then stained the box but still wanted to add some "vintageness" to it. I got this Tim Holz paper this weekend and it is all old vintage holiday advertisements. So I divided them up some and put them on the top to cover all the areas: I distressed the edges some and then it was done. I put a towel and some toole' on the inside and will either put cards or christmas tags in it for the craft show.

Cash or check please..........

Hello! Glad you stopped in today.......... this is a really quick and easy project that I came up with after seeing an envelope album a few weeks ago in a store. So I made these festive envelopes and they are perfectly sized for checks or cash! AND they are fun to decorate but honestly only take a few minutes to make depending on what you want on them.

This is the little card that I slid inside so that you could put a little note to the recipient to wish them a happy holiday. If I wanted to put a gift card in here I could do that as well by making some slots in it to hold the card! Cute, huh? If you would like the measurements and directions just read a little further down:

Challenges:

Cute Card Thursday: anything goes

Crazy4Challenges: Christmas

ABC Challenge: Holiday

Instructions.................

Told you I would be back to post the instructions for the above money envelop holders. Here goes:

Piece of designer paper that is 8 x 6.5 inches
Score the 8 inch side at 6.5 in
Score the 6.5 inch side at 1 3/4in, 4 3/4 in
Then at the top of the piece of paper are those two little squares- trim them out
Your paper will then look like this (minus the little circle cut out)

Before I taped any of the envelope up I wanted to have a little indent so you can pull the card/money out. So I put the sides together, slid the 1in paper punch in and set it about 1/2 of the way down and punched. If you look at the previous photos you will see what it looks like. I then put adhesive along the bot and one of the sided and closed it up.
Then you can just decorate it. I had some of that lick n stick and rolled a layer on the top so I am hoping they can just lick it and it will stick. I was going to put a little ribbon or something but figured I would keep it simple. I also rounded the little flap corners (just liked the looks). I hope this little tutorial helps and have fun with them! I think that I will make some more for the craft show.
See ya later!

It is not a card.............

I got these little frames that had to be altered a couple weeks ago and thought I would make one to partipate in a couple of challenges this week. I thought it would be fun and simple. This could be a hanging plaque or just a small frame to set on the table. I really need to find some cute holiday trinkets to add to my photos b/c this is honestly quite boring looking and it really is cute. Have a wonderful Sunday!

Quilting.....

Did you ever make one of those quilts that you put it all together and then tied it? Well I remember making several of them, one I even won a prize in a fair with it. So this week on ODBD the challenge was to make a card that was inspired by a quilt. I made it simple so you could take in the "guilt". Since I did hand sew on it I am also entering it for the ABC challenge.

Anything goes............

Today's project I did for the Bunny Zoe and LOTV challenge this week. I wanted to do something more than a card as they are also having a blog hop (they are always so much fun!). I didn't have a Christmas LOTV so I had to use a different image. The little box is one Maria's treat box that was showcased on SCS during the Holiday Blitz and it is so quick and easy once I figured it out. I thought it would be cute filled with tags too!
Have a great Friday!

Cheerful Thank You!

I know, I am all over the board with wintery, Christmas cards to this bright summery card. LOL, I guess I can't make up my mind. :) But I had these pieces of DSP out and figured I didn't want to waste them or put them in my scrap box- so I made this card. Isn't that big flower gorgeous? It was the first time I stamped and cut it and I love it, will certainly be using that again. (thank you Julee!). And well- that is it ladies!

Snowy Christmas Wishes

I have no idea what company makes this image, I got it from a class I took (and can't recall the company, guess I am not a good model for advertisement, ha ha!) and thought I would color him. The DSP is the basic grey newest pack, love the reds and greens (and blues!) in it. I matched his scarf but you can not tell very well. Little satin ribbon and a buckle and he is good to go. Have a great day! Heidi

A card of Support

You ever just think, Oh- I need to send that person a card just to let them know I am thinking of them? Well I was thinking the other day that here I make all these card and overall we (as a society) don't send as many cards and hand written notes as we used to. Isn't that sad? I mean, I LOVE to get mail that is something hand made, hand written and other than bills. :) So this card is a card that I can put in the mail to show someone I am thinking of them or that I am supporting them. I love the brightness of it- it is October Afternoon of course. And that is it for today!

Snowday Friends

Ok, this is the picture that I chose for inspiration. Now don't laugh, I saw it and it reminded me of this little image- a little bird sitting on a cup of cocoa- so I thought I would go with it for the Flourishes challenge again.
This sweet card is made with a Forever Friends image that I got from a friend, after I saw them on her blog. I just fell in love with these little guys. And who can resist a little bear and bird friend? I was giggling when I was thinking about how warm that little bird is sittingon the cup of hot cocoa................. see my little marshmallows? A little dab of liquid pearls there and on the ground for snow and it works perfect. I hope you enjoy the card this wonderful Sunday!

What? So soon?

Yepper- another fall card. This one is a bit simplier than the last one or so it appears anyways. It must be that plain blue cardstock at the top. But the blue matches so well with the blue in the Daisy D paper. Then to give the card a little different look I added the small little flowers in orange, blue and white. So pretty and elegant, threw in some greens and tada- a center piece! :) I don't send alot of fall/thanksgiving cards so I thought this would be perfect for fall birthdays.

Ah............ what do you think? All white, just layer on layer of white embossed paper. It turned out to be elegant and romantic don't you think? I did this for Simon Says Challenge.

Is it fall?

Cause I musta' forgot! LOL- here is a nice summery card that I made a couple of weeks ago when I was practicing that modified card. Not sure modified of what..... but I liked the looks of it and made a couple different ones to have on hand. I just love the orange and teals together, don't you? I hope you enjoy it...... sorry so short but well, oh heck no excuses- just busy.

Romance and Music

Ah- is this romantic? I started this card for the Flourishes Challenge which meant that I had to start at the Cafe Boudelaire Prints sight and find something that would inspire me. It was quite a quaint spot and lots of vintage inspiration. I personally chose this item as inspiration for my card.

I just loved the vintage, romantic look of this particular item and thought of these two stamps immediately: music background and kissing couple. Kept it simple and elegant. Hope you will stop back soon!

It is fall....... the leaves must come down (and some acorns too!)

I wanted to make some fall colored/accented birthday cards and I just got my leaf nestabilities so I figured I would put it to good use. I love how the card came out- I just wish I had some editing program on my system to make it fancier and look more elegant. I mean the card is gorgeous but it doesnt look so much on the picture. The DSP is some Daisy D that someone sent to me and it is so fall"ish" . Then see my little acorns? LOL, I found them at Micheal's for thanksgiving and thought they would be pretty accents in my photos- so expect more pictures with them. :) Ok, off I go!

Believe

Today you get to see yet another Breast Cancer Awareness card. As you know I love pink so these cards come so easy for me. I love making them and I feel fortunate to not have anyone close to me that has breast cancer and/or is a survivor of breast cancer. I give all those ladies so much credit, I know they don't have a choice but they are strong women! The background on this card is made with the Hope is set and then speckled pink on it. Very simple and easy- but says just the right thing. Once again, this is for the SSIC CHallenge.

October is PINK!

Yep- in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month we are making pink cards with pink ribbons over on SSIC challenge. I have made this one today and more to come later this week. I embossed with the block hearts embossing folder which I believe was one of my first ones- and I still love it (especially in pink!). The stamps are SU and the set was put out a few years ago in October and I have kept it for years. So for all those ladies out there fighting breast cancer and/or are a survivior this one's for you! I am also submitting to Flourishes: no buttons or bows.

Friday Sketch

Happy Monday!
Well it is back to work for me... as I am sure it is for many of you. Don't you feel like you work just to get to Friday evening and then before you know it is is Monday morning again? LOL- it really is kind of sad.
So this weekend I took a class with stampscapes (will show you later this week) and then got to work on a few challenges which I have not really done much of over the last 2 weeks so it felt good. This card I used the ODBD challenge of using kraft, black, a neutral and 1 other color, as you can see I chose pink. Then I combined it with the Friday sketch challenge and the Flourish 89 Challenge to focus on the sentiment. The DSP is StampinUP and the sentiment is Verve.
