Growing Friendship

I am getting ready to go on vacation but thought I would give myself a challenge and make a couple cards this week. So this one is one for the Friday Sketcher Challenge and although I am late I am going to post it anyways. This is a Hanglar stamp that my friend Karin sent to me, some K&Co paper layered on chocolate SU cardstock. I colored her with my copics- used some orange ribbon and the eyelet brads. One thing about those brads, I have a couple packages and I rarely use then and yet they are so cute! My with love is handwritten which I do like to do but is what I wanted.

Now this second card is one I made for the Spoonful of Sugar challenge using one of the sweetest stamps. This reminds me of when I was little and I always wanted to take my cats for a ride on my bike. You might recognize the colors from a card I made a couple weeks ago- I really wanted to use this paper up because I really liked it. The flowers I made with my sizzlit in my sizzix-

Tomorrow I am off on vacation ladies, I will not be around a computer and therefore I will not be back online to post again until at least 8/31. I hope you all enjoy your week (I am pretty sure I will) and look forward to posting in a week or so. I am coming upon 11,000 hits and since I didn't do a 10,000 candy I will do one when I return.

So this weekend I went to the Stamp Convention and boy, did I have fun or what. I got to go to Marco paper and they had a great deal on nesties so I got myself another set of them. I bought the round and ovals but will share with my friend (hey Jen!) I also got some other fun stuff to use on my cards, I only bought 1, yep that is one, stamp and it is a sentiment that I love.
This card is made with images from my new friend and alota stamp design team Shary. I love this image and love these cards. The DP is from one of my DCWV packs and the sentiment is from one of my SU sets.
I am going to try and post again on Thursday ladies and then I am off to Mexico. I am not going to have access so I won't post anything until I return after the 30th. I will miss posting but definately need this little vacation. I am going with my family (hubby and sons), the inlaws, and my mother! Should be a good time, great weather and lots of relaxation.

True Friends

This is a card that I made for a get together with some friends. It is the True Friend set and then the paper that came out at the same time but now is retired from SU. I just love this set and the paper is just so perfect and I would have loved to see it in this new catty, it can go with so many of the current sets. But alas- it is not. I used moss for the nesties that I use on the front, it is actually a tri-folded card which is something a little different for me. Or shall I say I have not used this format in some time. I am trying to expand on the style of card as well as the set. And then you open the card the last time and you have a cute little spot to add your own message which I do a lot- leave them blank until I am ready to use them............. you too? It just gives me cards for use later plus I find if I make them for someone else they can put their own sentiments and it makes it more versatile- while I know some of you ladies feel it is not complete until it has the message. hee hee...........

Okay, and now I have to show you all some fabulous cards that i have received in the mail over the last couple of weeks. This first card I got from Shary, it came with a prize from a blog candy I won which was a alota stamp and some images. Is this card not the cutest?

This next card was sent to me by Christine for a Card Mingle that I joined on the Magnolia-licious group. She did a fabulous job putting this card together and there is a lot that she put into this card and I am very privaledged to have received this card from her. It is a large card and you could put it into a frame! Would that not be the sweetest?

Then this card is from Tina- I won a blog candy (how lucky am I?) on her blog and she sent met his card inside the package with the goodies, which were awesome by the way! But this card is so sweet- take a look at all the detail. Are the colors on this card not fabulous, shouts summer!

Oh! I am not done yet! This card is from Karen, we have become friends and did a little exchange and SHAME on me for not sending you a card girl. That will come next. I love these colors and I think that she knew I am partial to the little boy cards, this is a Hanglar and I shall cherish it.

I will add the links to the rest of their sites when I get to my other computer that has them all in my favorites. Do I not have some creative friends or what. Thank you all for these beautiful cards.

Holiday Preview

I can't believe that I am actually making some Christmas cards! Oh boy, maybe this way I will have them all done when it actually comes time to mail them! Ha- This week on the Magnolia Challenge they have us using a Magnolia stamp to make a Christmas card, it didn't have to be an actual Christmas Image but just to make it holiday"ish". So I had this Rufus and I have not used him AND I got this tree which I love and have yet to make anything with (never mind all the times I stamped it, colored, and messed up!). Anyhow I knew what I wanted to do with Rufus and the tree and that was to put lights on the tree. The little box of ornaments, that is from my Precious Moments stamp and I stamped it, colored it and cut it out and popped it up. The paper is what is cool- not your traditional Christmas paper but love it once again- used the Rose Red from SU as the layering color with some stitched ribbon. The tags are die cuts w/ my sizzix, had to ad a little snowflake too! Then finished off with a star button on the top of the tree. Now- some of you may ask, how could it be Christmas with the beautiful leaves on the trees? Well here in Michigan that is not possible you are right but I started thinking that not everywhere do you have tons of snow and leafless trees- so I figured I could get away with it. Do tell- what do you think?

BLOG CANDY ALERT: I have my blog candy roll call- don't forget to check it out. Shelly has some fabulous goodies to win!

A little less skin?

Here is another little Sarah Kay image that I got and I was set to do the Friday Sketch Challenge and I had the challenge sketched on a paper piece and did the card and then went "oops!" - I didn't tear and put the image inside the window. Otherwise it is the same sketch. I love this card, I got the papers from a blog candy win- it is PaperPazazz and I just love the paper with the little girl. So, you mom's will get a kick out of this, remember I have boys- so I take it to show to my hubby, which I do on occassion if I am really happy with the outcome to see what he thinks. The first thing he says to me is, "Shouldn't she have a little less skin? Can't you color her shirt a little lower or something" Oh, I was laughing so hard, I can just see me trying to put MORE clothes on Sarah and I am sure her designer would be oh so thrilled! The flowers I also got with my blog candy and it matches so well with all the goodies I got. I took 3 of them and layered them to give me so me more depth and then I also popped the image up along with the flower. Put a missing you tag on it and done. Notice that I put the piece of paper under the image diagonal and that is because I have seen several of the ladies doing this and I really like the contrast I get. I feel like I do a lot of squares and everything symetrical so I wanted to change that up some. That is it for the evening.

Spoonful of Sugar

Is this little girl the sweetest? I love these Sarah Kay images and one of my new friends, a dynamically creative lady Suzanne sent me some of these images. I was so afraid to even use one for fear of just ruining it. But I thought, well whatcha gonna do with them then. So, this is my take on this one. This weeks challenge was to recycle, well I am not sure how I could do that but almost all the papers here are from my scrap box, the flower..... that is a whole story in its own but the brown one was in the garbage (talk about recycling!).

Paper: DCWV paper stack, SU apricot appeal, real rust, wasabi.
Accessories: SU celery grosgrain, prima flower.
Sentiment: computer generated ( I made it up)

That is it for this Thursday evening, I am so thrilled that tomorrow is Friday. It has been another long work week for me so I am anticipating some relaxation (dreaming is more like it) and then some family fun. I have a couple more projects and if I get a chance I will load them for you later this weekend.

Tata for now!

Sweet Drink

I had seen this tutorial on SCS some time ago and thought it was just the cutest thing and so I decided to give it a try since I know several of my friends have ordered this set AND word is, it is still in the new catty! I have not see this thing that some talk about, I think that Michigan is one of the last states to get them, but it will be here soon!
For those that want to give it a try it is quite simple, I used a plastic cup and just traced the sides and cut it out of vellum. I then folded the two sides inward so that I could attach it to my nesties rectangle. Before I attached it I used a sponge in rose red and so saffron and sponged the inside to give the color of the drink. I used tart n tangy to stamp/cut the lemon and the strawberry. I used the cuttlebug to give 1/2 of the card a design, this is one of the new folders from the last release and I love it. I mounted this all on a light yellow bazill cardstock card base.
It just felt like summer................ have a drink on me and enjoy ladies!

The Mega Load!

Boy, I hope that blogger can accomodate all that I need to do today. I have busy trying to make cards following some of the fun challenges out there. As I have said, I do better if I can really use someone's design or if they just tell me what to use (does that sound silly or what? ) So, this first card is for the Friday Sketchers Challenge. This week Kimmie is the sketch designer and so I used her sketch and just tweaked a few things with it. This little mouse is a Whipper Snapper I believe and I used the copics to color him in. I then used glaze for the suckers and stickles for the ice cream and the ice cream he is sitting on. I think he turned out so cute.
The next picture is for the challenge on Papertake which was to make a Christmas card. Now, I have not even thought about Christmas and as you can see I even shot the photo in the back yard with the greens. Hanna is decorating her Christmas Tree which has lots of sparkled. I paper pieced her skirt from the opposite side of the paper which is K&Co and it just isn't Christmas colors so I enjoyed that.

Are you ready for one more? Possibly two- yeah, can you believe that I have 4 to post that I have done! Yikes................ I am already having problems with the system so lets try the Spoonful of Sugar Challenge picture. It had to be a High Hopes, Sarah Kay or a couple other brands and so I chose this little guy. I got this dog because he reminds me of our dog that passed away- just love him. Anyways- I am using paper from the DCWV Blossoms and Butterflies and the SU Gable Green, added a few primas to make it a little girly. I had to change the sentiment because I always got licks from Saibo. What do you think? Ok, Saibo never had a pink collar either but well- I just had to "bling" it up some! LOL!

Okay, one last one and this is for the CuteCard Thursday challenge which I have never done before. It had to be something "In the HOuse" and well, what else do we have in the house but a cup of Java! The papers are some that were sent to me and I believe they are B.G. This is a small 3x3 card because I always need cute little note cards to give as thank yous.

I think that is all that she is going to take today ladies. Thank you so much for looking today- it has been a busy Saturday. Have an awesome weekend!
