Jungle Friend

Oh my....... new rubbah ladies! I got a gift certificate from a dear friend of mine to High Hopes stamps and I was in heaven shopping for them a couple of weeks ago, it was pure torture. So, this is a couple of the stamps that I got. I stamped the giraffe in black permanent ink and then I masked it to stamp the jungle background, all on watercolor paper. Then I used my SU markers, except the pink flower and the rocks (copics). Now, you are probably thinking, Heidi, why did you put the giraffe on the left hand side and you are right! When I was plotting it I was looking at the jungle background and the tree was on the Right so I put the giraffe on the left- until I turned the stamp over to stamp the jungle and realized my mistake. So- lets just say that I did it so that I could put the little pull out tab (seen here on Claudia's blog) with the hidden message. See, subconsciously I had a plan!
I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day and this week goes by fast. I know I am ready for the weekend already. And here in Michigan we had a big frost- I covered the flowers and the sheets and plastic had ice on them this morning. Brrrrrrrr.
Take care!

A little Hello..........

I got this sweet shapes set in a PIF, always thought it was so cute and so I pulled it out to ink it up. I wanted to use some SU product as well for my avid SU customers and friends. This paper is from the occasions mini paper pack, base is cocoa and the base of the image is vanilla on chocolate chip. I did a little paper piercing on the image which I have never done before but I like the look of it. I cut out the butterfly and then used a little bit of stickles on it to give it a little sparkle, you know me- I am about bling and sparkle!!! LOL! Then ended it with some dew drops that matched well. The nex card is very similar, I used the same DP and the base is cocoa. I took my threading water punch and flipped the DP over and used it that way. Glittered my butterflies. I have been trying to do 2-3 cards at a time when I have all the supplies out because I find it leaves me with less scraps which I have tons of! I was going through my box and thinking will I ever use these again. I need to find something to do with them all. What do you gals do with your scraps? I do have a drawer of them..... and try to go to it when I get ready to color an image so I can try to use it up.
Tomorrow is Memorial Day here in the US so I am off- as is my family so we are going to go and see the new Indian Jones movie and get some lunch. Hope you all have had a great weekend!

*Jungle Friends*

No, it is not Friday but this is the Friday Sketchers challenge that I decided to try this week. I apologize for no posts this week but it was a hum-dinger of a week. I decided today to spend some time with my stamps, images that I have gotten from the image PIF on SCS and use some of my many supplies. This is a jungle stamp that I believe is a WS and I got it from the PIF- colored with my SU colors except the elephant is copics. What better way to play with my goodies than a challenge. I used blue bayou as the base, then beige, the DP is K&C0 that was on clearance at Archivers this week. I popped the animals up to make it pop. I do like how this turned out.

Now- my next challenge to myself and to those of you that stamp, because I had this conversation with the lady at Archivers this week, is to send a card to someone that you need to thank, someone that is having a bad week, or someone that has inspired you. I have tons of cards and when it comes time to send a card I always think...... will they appreciate this card that I have made. " Are they worthy? " So I decided I needed to send out a few cards, in hopes that they will enjoy it.
Hope to see you soon- I have a few more projects that I have worked on this weekend and will show you all.

Thank God for friends

I know it is a little early for Thanksgiving but I was stampin some images for some friends and I had this one left. I had not ever used it and so I thought I would go ahead and make a card out of it. It is a precious moments stamp that I layered on SU really rust and then the base is K&Co paper pack (love it). I also got the new key tag punch from SU so I wanted to try that out as well and it worked well with this stamp. So, even though it is not Thanksgiving I do thank God for all my wonderful friends, in real life and all of you ladies that check out my blog, post comments, and participate in swaps and PIF with me. As I am looking at it again now I think that I am still missing something on this card, some ribbon or a tab on the left side of the card. Hm..... will have to pull it out again and do some revisions!
Hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday!

Blog Candy

No, not mine this time but Heidi is having blog candy on her site! Check it out if you have a blog and want to post her link.

Oh and laides- Craftyb is also having a blog candy contest. I have found that these gals post goodies but if you have a "challenge" it makes it more fun! Give me inspiration.

Nesties

I got Nestibilities for my birthday (thank you mom!) and I am using them in my cuttlebug but I didn't know you needed a matte so I had to wait to use them. I ended up having hubby buy a plumbers matte at Lowe's and it works! So these are the first cards I made with the true nestie (the previous post has a semi nestie!). I used a retired carstock from SU thinking I would end up messing them up a few times but low and behold I didn't mess up so I thought I would use the die cuts anyways. I tried a couple different sizes and just layered with the white. I want to try a few different versions with multiple layers so be ready for some more in the near future (hope to not bore you toooooo much!). Both of the DP are from paperpacks although I am not sure which ones. I typically just put them into my paper rack and forget them. So, I need to pay more attention as I buy more paper.
Well I have a busy day so I am sorry to say that is all that I have, just these simple cards. But I have some more for later this week- well or the weekend.
Have a great one!

True Friends!

I got this set, oh way back when it was in the mini catalog and just loved it, loved all the stuff that the ladies on SCS did with it. So, I got it punched it out and mounded the wood and set it aside- yeah, that has been where it sat for all this time! I love this set, how could I just set it aside like that? Well you all know what I am talking about so I will not belabor the issue and go into all my excuses since you all know them by now. I have actually be "thinking" about the set for a week now and pulled it out last night to make a card. This is a 6x6 base which is new to me and I don't even have envelopes for this one yet. I used K&Co striped paper, then SU real rust, mustard and vanilla. I am not sure if I like the size yet- there is alot more card to cover and so you have to think the design and placement, although I am guessing I would get used to it easily. I do like how this card turned out though.

Have a great week!

It's Your Birthday!

Well I don't know it if truly is YOUR birthday but it is my mom's birthday, "Happy Birthday Mom!" This Tilda card is being posted in honor of her birthday anyways. I just colored her with my SU markers (nope, have not broken down and bought those copics yet!). I used stickles on the cake and on the candles. The paper is from a paperpack that someone sent to me and I honestly do not know which one! I used my treading water punch for the scallop edge at the bottom. This is not a SU punch- it is fiskars and I got lucky and found 2 of them when I was in California last month so I bought both and kept one. The Happy Birthday is from SU Flexible Phrases. My card base is bazill textured pink. This might help you see the stickles a little better (you know you gotta see the details to truly get the card). I am loving this card, would it not be wonderful for a little girl's birthday, I mean, don't get me wrong my mother is a little girl at heart! tee hee..........
I also did this card for another reason though, it is for Friday Sketchers Blog. This is a new site just opened this week and they have a grou of ladies that will post a sketch each Friday. Sometimes they will even have prizes............ check it out. I am going to try and stay current and use the sketches weekly as inspiration. I also keep the sketches in a book that I can use later.
Oh and one last tidbit today- I got my July Scrap & Stamp Art and I have 2 cards being published in it! Is that not fun?
Have a wonderful Mother's Day ladies!

Gentle Bear

Is this little bear just the cutest? This is a stamp I got from a friend, it is a HighHopes Stamp and I am really enjoying their cute style. Recognize the paper? I made these two cards with the same 12x12 sheet that I used for my Riley card yesterday. This top one is layered on Wasabi, I used my SU markers to color him in and shade him. I didn't use the watercolor b/c I had stamped on regular cardstock. Then I added a couple coordinating primas and celery satin ribbone (from Mike's $1 bin)
The second card is layered on barely banana, the card base is wasabi as well. I have a friend that is ill so I am thinking that she will like this card. I also colored him with my SU markers. Layered the praying for you on wasabi and then on the barely banana scallop circle. Hope you like these little guys and you go girls- use up those left over pieces from your 12x12 paper! I challenge you!
Speaking of challenge- remember I was telling you that I have enjoyed participating in the card sketch challenges b/c it gets me motivated and I then have a book I keep them in? Well I am going to challenge you to use of these cards as a sketch for you to make a card. It doesn't matter what image you use but just use of the samples. Then if you have a blog post here so I can check it out. Or, better yet- if you are on SCS post it there and just put keyword HHCH1 for Heidi's Happy Challenge 1. Take care girls!

Coffee Anyone?

Well it is another Sunday and I was determined to challenge myself to do KraftinKimmie's challenge again this week. She has been very good at making me make different cards instead of the same old ones all the time. Plus, I keep all my sketches so I can use them later. You should all give it a try. Matter of fact, I am thinking of posting a card and challenge you to use it as a sketch (like YOU all need to be challenged!). Another thing that I am going to be doing is trying to use my paper when I cut it. I am notorious for cutting a 12x12 piece for a card and then it goes into my scrap drawer- so what is that? That is more than 3/4 of the sheet left sitting there for when I will need that again- that drawer is getting full. So, this is 1 of 3 cards I made with these pieces of paper and I will show you the others later this week. Right now- I want to tell you a little about Riley. He is a moose and he enjoys a nice cup of coffee and a sweet cupcake every now and then. I used my new spica glitter pen on top of the cupcake. Thanks Jen for introducing me to those- like I needed something new. I bought a pink, black and purple and you are right- they are fun! I have a few coffee stamps and I added the Lets Have Coffee and Java Jolt from them. Hope you like him and hope Kimmie likes him too! Thanks for challenging me Kim!
Have a great weekend, well the other half of it. We spread 15yd of mulch today and I for one would love to push Riley out of that chair and take it over! I fear for what tomorrow and Monday will bring!
Tata!
