Tag-a-long!

HAPPY FRIDAY! Are you all as happy as I am? It has been a busy week, lots going on here at home and at work. Sometimes you wonder how you get all the things done in one day..... that is me this week. And today is Halloween, we are not really big Halloweeners so I don't typically post Halloween stuff so you are going to get Christmas (sorry!). BUT both of my kids are telling me they are going trick or treating- which is amazing cause they have not always gone and to this moment neither has a costume! Yikes......... that means around 5pm they will be asking me to help them come up with something. But until then, I will show you my tags.
These tags are ones that I started the other night and I love how cute they came out. I will say that the photos do NOTHING for these tags. I used cocoa with red riding hood and the other is sand with red riding hood. I used some glitte on the snowflakes which you can not see in this photo but it just adds the finishing touch to these. The button on the snowflake is one of the riding hood SU buttons.

Home for Christmas

I held a class the other night and these are the 3 cards we made. It was a class where they paid up front and walked out with the stamp set and the cards. The card on the right is mellow moss and robin hood red along with chocolate. I used the threading water punch. The middle card is chocolate based with vanilla and Ski slope DP. I also used the new designer SU ribbon-this is so pretty. The one on the left is old olive w/ canvas printed on it, and riding hood red. We water colored this one and then I got the MS branch punch and we punched them out of DP and put them on the door as garland to give it depth. I love how this turned out, it took a little more time but it is well worth it. Now I must say that these cards are all versions of different cards I had seen on SCS- is that not the best resource in the world?
I hope you enjoyed these. I have been working on some christmas tags for my tag swap on SCS and they are so much fun! Check back tomorrow and I will try and post some of them.

Vintage Santa

I got this vintage Santa face on a PIF thread on SCS and I just love him. He is very simple, he is stamped in chocolate and all I did was layer on Real Red cardstock that was put throught the CB plate. Then I put some stickles on the snowflakes, added some ribbon and a little joy tag. This tag is acrylic and I used stazon on it- reminds me of the shrinky dink. I made this following the Stampsomething challenge thread. Turns into a nice vintage card, I think.

To kind of go along with the vintage look I thought I would show you this card. Now this is not my sketch, I got it from someone else (can't recall who though) but loved it. I got the Winter Post set that is in the new SU Mini and it is so versatile, vintage and FUN! I thought I would never use the reindeer and look- here he is! I wanted it for the post card saying and the santa postmark, love them both!

Okay- and an update on the 16 yr old thing! OMG- he passed the road test this week and he now has a drivers license! What am I suppose to do now? Should I let him drive? I am freaking out ladies............. he is a good driver, I do not mind driving with him but now, let him leave in the car on his own? Oh, I do not think so- there is so much that can happen to him. I never thougth I would feel like this.......

Oh and I am leaving for San Diego this afternoon and I have nothing planned ahead for you gals so I will not post again until Monday. I wish I had more time to plan- if I do, I will. I have a feeling there is a need for some Halloween Blog Candy- what do you think?

Impress with Embossing

I just have to share this new found inspiration with you all. I have a cuttlebug and all those folders and I use them on my cards as layers and love them. But truly do not use them alot and to their fullest potential- do YOU? Well I was blurfing last week and found this blog where she uses the CB folders to be the center stage. Now how cool is that? So here is my first card that I made putting those CB folders to work, make em show for the money I spent on them! LOL. First I die cut the bulb and snowflakes with my sizzix and then quickly threw them into my snowflake folder and wha-la! Are they not awesome? (I know you are all like, uh, Heidi where have you been?) Then I embossed the base card with swiss dots and then the top piece with oh, fooey, I can't recall the name of it. But you get the idea! The greeting is SU Sincere Salutations.

I then took some of the jelly impressions to make a "mark" for the envelope. I had to die cut the impressions with sizzix die b/c none of my punches fit. But I am pleased with the outcomes.

Merry Merry!

This card is made with Real Red base that I put in the CB to give some texture. Then I used some of my ski slope SU DP (love it!). I then took blue bliss and real red ink to stamp the images which are from SU Merry Merry set- I love this it has a retro look to it (retired though). I then took red glitter and put it on the red ornament and siler glitter on the blue one. I really like the feel/look of this card, finished off with some real red grosgrain and popped the image up a bit and done! I am submitting this to the Creative Corner Challenge in hopes to win some goodies. These challenges are giving me inspiration that is for sure.
Thanks for checking out the blog- you ladies have been leaving some wonderful comments. Thanks!

Tilda's Garden

I just have to share this with you all. I have had a busy week and so on Thursday night I was feeling creative and sat down with some images and put some thoughts into my head (yeah, I know, scary isn't it?) Anyways- two hours later this is what I had done. I know, 2 hours is a long time but coloring, cutting, die cutting, embossing and planning the layout ......... well I am so thrilled with this one. Even my husband looked at it and was like- WOW!
I colored the tilda with copics and the big flowers and birds are both magnolia stamps that coordinate. The flowers in the back ground are high hope stamps that I layered in two rows, the front row is actually standing out from the back- it is almost like I have 4 layers deep on this card. The ladybug and kitten are die cuts with my sizzix (yeah- I got to use it again!). I used wire to attach the birds to make them flying above the garden. I hope you like it and it makes you feel creative this Sunday afternoon! If you have not tried the step card, give it a whirl the possibilities are endless.

Roses Abound

I wanted to join a challenge over at the Dutch Dare site and it was for cardstock only- they have some fabulous challenges and then of course, samples. So here is my entry for this:

It has a cranberry crisp base and matte, the cardstock is vanilla stamped with the weathered BG stamp for the base and then french script for the top one. I then stamped the Roses in cranberry crisp and the greens in Hunter/moss. I love how this card turned out as it feels vintage/shabby I think. The images are not real crisp which adds to the feel of the card. Plus, no DP on this one and really looks like it could be in some places!

I will try to post again in a bit- I have another step card that I must show you- I LOVE it.

Step Card

I just happened upon this challenge over on SCS and just fell in love with these cards and truly they are so easy! I am going to post mine over there and will share with you the details of the card as well. I used SU Winter Post (yeah, so glad it arrived in time for this card!) and stamped the trees which are from Stampers Anonymous Believe set in kiwi on whisper white cardstock and matted on cocoa cardstock. Then I stamped the skaters in chocolate chip, colored a couple of things and then I cut around them but left the bottom portion of the paper so that it would attach to step 2 of my card. I also stamped the reindeer, matted him on cocoa and attached at step 2. The front is Ski Slope DP and the Postcard image from the set in chocolate chip. I added some stickles to the skating pond that I made and done. I am pleased with the way it turned out.

Details:
Cardstock 10.5 x 5. Scored at 1.25, 2.5, 4.25, 6, and 8.25.
Fold the card accordian style making sure the smallest fold is folded down as this will be the front of your card.
Start embellishing it!

I hope you give this one a try it truly is fun and lets you be very creative in decorating the steps. If you make one, please leave a link and I will stop over and take a lookie! Have a great day!

Magnolia Cutie!

Oh boy- it has been 4 days since I last posted- sorry about that. Thank you to everyone for your kind words. The car went into the shop and since we have a rental my son can not drive it, thus no road test till it is out. He told me that he is fine with that, he doesn't have a car right now so it isn't important to him if he gets his license ON the actual day or not so it will be later this week.
So- on to some fun stuff! I pulled out my Magnolia's since I had not used them in a bit and worked on this little sweetie!

This is birthday Tilda and she has a yummy litte cake for you for your Birthday Celebrations (SU). I used a sketch on this one, was lacking some creative MOJO I guess so took it from Mojo Challenge she has some FAB sketches for you to use! I colored her with my copic markers and matted on SU celery cardstock. I then took the polka do pink paper from my DCWV nursery paper and used my hearts border punch. I had not used this in some time and wouldnt you know it broke half way through! (Ugh..... I fix and will now call Fiskars) . The strip is celery and the main paper is DCWV another nursery paper from that pack. I added a couple of prima and good to go. Happy Birthday to someone!

Question for today: you make all these cards so what do you do with them (if they are not for a design team) ?

Mine go in a box to use for future needs, some I package and give away for birthday gifts, christmas, prizes to my staff at work.

I will be back later this week with some fun CB folder projects and a great site that I found. Also check out my blog candy list- I have been trying to keep it up to date- Bunny Zoe has some new HH goodies! Talk to ya later!

Did this really happen today?

Okay so I have to share this with you because I am still in disbelief- I mean I am actually hoping to wake up tomorrow and it will not be true (probably not though). Today my almost 16 yo had his rode test, he has been driving for about 15 months without any problems but he was nervous. I assured him it would go fine........ and thankfully he got through all the functional testing, parrallel parking, stopping, backing, etc.............. so then he gets on the freeway, she takes him through a "round about" and construction zone- I thought, man he is doing great we just have to go through a quiet neighborhood and stop at a zillion stop signs but he can do that without any problem. Oh wait................. ack! it is a busy intersection now, he has to stop at the light and turn left. Phew- he has come to a complete stop and is waiting and BAM! Wait, did we just get hit? Uh........ yeah we did. Not only that- she hit us so hard we went flying into the car in front of us. Thankfully my son put on the brake and we did limited damage to that little yellow mustang (oh so sorry!) So here we are sitting sandwiched between two cars, the van behind us is a mess (probably totalled) and my poor son is sitting at the wheel with a driving instructor in the passenger seat. I could have cried- the poor kid was shaking. Now I know it is not his fault and it will not effect his license but he didnt finish the test and so now we have to start over. Ugh....... can you believe this? I am thankful that all are safe but what an "inconvenience"

Now I will share with you a challenge that I am participating in since you hung around and heard our sad story

Ha ha............ that little turkey is a wild animal right? I was looking at some challenges and the Dutch Dare one had to be a wild animal. Well I have others but I was giggling when I looked at this one because it will throw you off I think. How many wild animals eat dinner at the table with ya! This is a precious moment stamp, they are retired and not for sale anymore but I had to pull this one out as we come into fall and Thanksgiving! I used some Debbie Mum paper that I got at Jo's the other day, real rust and mustard SU cardstock to matte them. I colored them with my copics and love the results. It is soft and yet vibrant. I am also submitting this card for a sketch challenge as well. I thought it was a nice sketch and will use it again.

The blues

I have been wanting to try this technique and I think that I picked the perfect set to work with; not to mention the colors are popping as my youngest would say. I used Buckaroo Blue/vanilla to matte and sky as the base, I stamped the image with versamark and then embossed it with clear embossing. I then took white craft ink and used a dauber to go over the areas that I had embossed and this is the effect that I got. What do you think? I am loving it and... shhh, don't tell- it took me only minutes to make these cards. You could whip up a few of these in no time especially if you did all the cutting up front. Perfect WOW card for a workshop for sure! I know, short post but whatcha gonna do, I am just trying to catch up on projects.

Heidi

ps: Oh winner of my little "help me out" contest is won by Chris A and here is the outcome: send me your addy and I will send you the card!

Lace Doily Fetish

I am laughing as I am getting ready to post my card for today- can you tell I just got the lace doily punch? I absolutely love it too- I think it makes the card soft, elegant looking. Today I pulled out my newest stamp set from SU called Upsy Daisy and thought I would play with it and the new colors.
I am using the Tangerine and the Kiwi cardstock and of course the tangerine ink. At first I did not order these colors, more so that I wanted to see them in real life but also I tend not to purchase all the new colors but I have to say.......... I was hooked when I saw the cardstock. I love all the new in colors except the pacific point blue. This set is just so pretty and I think it is because it is so simple, this card really didn't take long to make. I think that punching the doily edge took the longest as I must say that MS punch is not easy to use. I also decided to add a little touch to the inside by putting some cream paper and decorate it- allowing me to write a note or stamp something later. I always tend to leave everything blank until I use it.
I also want to thank all of you who posted suggestions to my card the other day. I will take a look at them and give them a try and then the winner will get the card, but it might take a couple of days. It is the weekend and I desperately need to do some grocery shopping and maybe, just maybe I will go to the Lions game on Sunday. I kinda want to stamp but then again I want to spend time with my hubby too. So we shall see!
That is all for me right now- thanks to everyone that stops in and post comments they are truly appreciated.
Have a great weekend!
Heidi

Wednesday, October 1, 2008

Ah hello - happy Wednesday. I am so glad it is the mid-week, it has not come fast enough for me. I think that I need like 3 weekends in a row to recooperate. But that would mean it was time to head back to CA for me, so I will stick with time as I know it.
This card I used one of the new hostess sets and colored it with my copics. I will say the picture does not do it much justice as I think the image turned out truly pretty. I layered the image on mellow moss and the DP is a cosmo cricket one that was sent to me. I used the new tangerine for the card base- the colors go nicely together and yet are different. I bought the MS lace punch and used chocolate chip to make the middle piece. So- here is where I need YOUR help. I love this sketch so to say but this card I struggled with WHAT to put as a sentiment (as I think it is missing something) and how to put it on (where). Give me your thoughts please........... I will mess around with your ideas and send you the card if I choose your idea. Sound fair?
