Little Birdie told me.........

I got these images from bluelemon on SCS, they are Magnolia stamps- this is Tilda and is she not the cutest? I really enjoyed coloring her and I just used my markers. Then I added a little sparkle to her wings with stickles. She just makes me smile! I am hoping a friend (Lois) is going to be stamping me some other images as I found out SHE owns a few of these little gems!
It is a busy weekend, had to do some shopping for my nieces wedding shower and took hubby with me (he is the Godfather) and we had a good time, long but fun! Tomorrow (Sunday) is the shower so we will all go out there to spend some time with her before she heads out to base with her new hubby.
So please enjoy the rest of your weekend and let me know what you think of Tilda!

I am being Challenged !!!

Well I know that many of you are probably giggling, thinking Heidi we know you've been challenged for some time but you might not want to share that with everyone on the world wide web- and I am glad that I can give you all a good Friday laugh. BUT that is not at all what I meant, as so as it may be. Instead a fellow blogger has given me, well not just me but all her readers, a challenge to use little animals on their cards. I have plenty of images and just needed a little kick start to use them. I wanted to go masculine because it is even more challanging for me and I just love the porcupines. So here is the first one- I used my slit punch to make the scallop edge on that strip as well then pierced it with my piercer. Overall I like this one! What do you think?

But I did not stop there- this card I made from another image that was sent to me. I love this Moose- now he is not a small critter but he is still an animal so I am hoping Kimmie will be alright with him. I had to free hand stamp the statement using a bunch of my different stamps to get the letters I needed. I wanted it to be a little off center and that was EASY!

So there you go- two animals for today. I have some cute little Magnolia's for you next- Tilda is her name and she is sweet- so stop back!

Best Friends

I just could not resist this little guy and his pal. I am always looking for stamps that fit my family and our hobbies. So, being that I have two boys I like to find some special stamps that are boyish and this one fit the order. Then, my oldest son likes to fish so even better, right? Anywhoo, this is a High Hopes stamp called Time Well Spent and I actually got it from my pal Kim in a swap. So now I own my own! I used markers for this one, nothing else since I forgot to use the watercolor paper and didn't want my paper to fray. The little friendship stamp is SU Think Happy Thoughts.

Then I will also share the other little project we did at my Open House last week. It was a card that we stamped on watercolor paper and then I instructed them on using the SU markers and the aquapainters to get similar effects of the Copics. I made it into a postcard type of card which is new for me- figure why do we always have to have a folded card. I thought it was cute and the girls did a great job on them.
It is a very simple card but gave them a big image to work with for shading and got them to use the photo corner punch...... and well like a said it gave them an idea of just a postcard type card in an envelope is great- turn it over and leave a message and done.
Hope you enjoyed today's projects and I have some more cute images to show you later this week that I am working on.

Brayered Background Technique

This was the card the ladies made at my Open House this week using the brayered technique that was spotlighted on SCS a couple of weeks ago. It was so easy and a great way to use the brayer, mine that sits around way too much. Here we used the neutral tones but you could do a winter scene with blues and purples as well. Just start by tearing some sticky note and that gives you the horizon. Then use the lightest color and brayer across the top, the next lightest color you brayer but move up just a bit, say 1/2inch. Then finish with the darkest color and then also sponge along the horizon with the darkest color. Hope you enjoy!

Bible Verse Challenge

I just had to give this a try. A couple ladies decided to get together and do a monthly Bible Verse Challenge and post on SCS. Choosing a favorite verse each month and making a project out of it as a testimony of their faith. I love the idea! So, I turned to the bible and pulled out a verse that is the backbone of our Mission Group, a guide for us. I love this verse. I will try and post on the 8th of the month my project for that month- if you want to see some of the other cards check out their sites:
Or you can go to SCS and go to the gallery and enter BVC08 and look at the cards. If you want to join the challenge please post your cards on SCS and use the BVC08 so they will go into that group. Thanks for stopping in!

Happy New Year!

I had to share this photo because we got up on January 1st to about 12-14 inches of snow AGAIN, as many may recall we had about 12 inches back in December. It was beautiful but I was stuck home for several days. The little yellow car does not like the snow or cold. The holidays were wonderful, relaxing- we stayed home on NY Eve and watched the ball drop and then I was off to bed. The guys stayed up and watched a "manly" show. NY Day I took down all my holiday stuff AND got it all packed away in its spot so the house is clean and bare, don't you just hate that after the holidays. YOu think, is this the way it looks all year round and I live with it- just boring. But it is clean so I can not complain and it is done.

So my task for this week is making announcement/invitations for my niece who got married in December. We are going to announce the marriage and have a little shower for her before she and her new husband (who is in the military) move away early February. She is a simple girl, hence the going and getting married, and so we went with a simple announcement. I have to make only 40 of them so it is not too bad.

I will make an effort to get back to you all more regularly now that the new year is here. Thanks for stopping in!
