Mini Album Display Box

Ah- hello everyone!   So today's project is pretty special to me.  It is one of the Off the Page items that Gina has over at Gina's Designs.  It is the mini album display box and comes with the little display box with the drawer and supplies to make 4 albums (as you will see I have made 2 of them).
Here is a photo showing the little drawer open, this is a solid drawer and so fun to fill with little drinkets and I lined it with a doily (you know how much I love them!)
Here is a photo of the top of my box, added a few little vintage items.  The doily is one of the larger sets that Gina carries in the store but you can get them in several sizes.
I decided to lightly decorate the sides of the display box with some dress forms
Here are the little albums that I put together and decorated.  The albums are little accordian style so you have the chipboard album and then you can add pages.  For mine I used one of the hinge straps,  Words & Phrases I and labels

I do hope you enjoy this project as much as I have- it really is a little treasure to keep or give away!

Vintage Cigar Box

Happy Sunday! So glad that you joined me today. We've been vacationing and I thought I would show you a project that I worked on and made for a secret pal. I love how it turned out. So Friday night I pulled out a cigar box that my FIL got at the local Smoker's Outlet and painted it. I wanted it to be vintage but wanted to make it sof as well. Last week I showed you the corrugated tecnique and I used it again on the top of this box. It looks fabulous, the pictures do not do it justice. Honestly, this is a blush color and I used the same SU set to add the flowers. The paper is Graphic 45 Springtime and you can pick it up over at ABC Toys and Crafts.

Lots of distressing, tearing, and more inking with . If you enjoy grungy, ink on your fingers- you MUST try this. The flowers on the top are from Wild Orchid and layered on the Magnolia vintage tag. Ok, so I know there are no pictures of the sides, all I did was put paper on them but look at the little feet I put on this? I took pink, cream and celery colored buttons and hot glued them together. This way the box sits up a little off the table. It looks so sweet!

Ok, so the next thing was...... what should I put IN the box? Well of course it had to match and be something useful. Plus I was looking for something that would not take me another 4 hours to do.... :) So this is a little notebook that I had picked up. I used the Graphic45 paperpack again. Then added a cream colored prima flower with lots of sparkle with stickles. I used a couple die for the flourish and leaves.

So that is it! A big project this weekend completed! Now if I could get the house cleaned! :) Have a great week all!

Altered Album

Hello everyone! Well this was a project that I was working on for about 2 days. It will be a graduation gift for the daughter of some friends. She likes art and I thought she would enjoy this and the fact that all she has to do is add the photos of her and her friends and she will have a momento to take off to college.

The album itself was purchased at Archivers on clearance and I love the shape of the album. It was just the front and back- I think that before I give it away I am going to make a template. I did a little stamping and embossing on the front and then of course that beautiful Tim Holtz plate.

This is what the first page looks like. As you can see all the pages are a little different size. It give the album a little dimension and honestly it makes it fun to see what the next page will look like (don't you think?)

As you move to the next page, you have a narrow page but it has a pull out that you open and there is room for another picture or some journaling or anything she wants to put in it. I originally was going all pink and black with this album due to it being black but then I couldn't just stick with that theme............. there are so many wonderful colors to incorporate so I did of course leave the pink and black but brought in some blues, greens, etc... and am thrilled with hot it came out. now.
The final page of the album I wanted to have the most room for a larger photos of either the graduate, her and her friends or family. And basically she can just slip the photo behind the ribbon and tuck it into the flower and she is all set (is that coordinating pink and black patchwork just not the cutest!). This album was soooo much fun that I want to start on the next one right now but I need to work on graduation announcements first. But good to know this one is ready to be boxed and wrapped.

Thanks for stopping in and I hope this album gives you some inspiration to work on something new!

Altered Portfolio

I just love this project! I am not sure what it is called, but I kind of made my own tutorial up to have it come out. I didn't realize though that I forgot to take apicture of the front of this before I sent it off to my friend. So I will now have to make another one to show off! Yikes............ It is kind of like a portfolio. When you close these sides up it is about 9x12inches and I have a little string pull that holds it shut.

This here is the absolute inside- as you can just tell this is open and so there is the middle and the two sides. When shut, it will look like the picture above. I can't believe I didn't take the outside picture!

Ok so that is it for today but please do not forget about two things I have going this week:

1. KLSNS Blog Hop: start over at the DT blog and enter to win free goodies!

2. ABC Toys and Craft New Stamp Release: the DT blog has a free stamp a day give away.

See you all later now!

Vintage Box

Thanks to a friend of mine (Cindy!) I have gotten into altering boxes. This was a plain wooden box that I painted red. Actually when I was done painting it I loved the color so much that I wanted to just leave it a red box. It was such a nice deep red- very vintage looking....... so then I had to go on a hunt for the stamps and lace to go on the box. So while out on vacation I enrolled the assistance of my mother to help me find some lace that would be victorian, elegant, vintage all in one. This is what we came up with. I played around with the lace over and over to figure out just where to put it. I hope it is not too much. At first I had it just around the top and then I tried it along the bottom and thought it looked much more elegant with it there- but didn't think it looked overdone. What do you think? The stamp is one of the Stampers Anonymous (Tim Holz demo'd Christmas 2006) that I splurged on a year or two ago. It is a very old fashioned Santa and came with the word Believe and a christmas tree. I only used the Santa and the snowflake came from Winter Post along with the rest of the images on the box. I thought it went well together- old fashioned(ish). I stuck with cream and browns to keep it toned down b/c the box was quite red.
So now I have decided quite possibly that I need to do about 8 of these for holiday gifts. I am making many of my gifts and this will be the perfect box to hold them. I can't imagine someone wouldn't love getting it.

KLSNS SPARKLE BLOG HOP IS HERE!

You should have arrived from Kristine's Blog and if not you will want to start at the KLSNS DT blog so that you get all the words to complete the SPARKLY phrase at the end to be entered in the drawing to win the GRAND PRIZE!

So my sparkly project for you all today is a "Pamper Yourself" project that you could make for a special friend. This is a drink tote that I had my hubby paint pink (of course!) and then I used my sweet little PIXIE girls to decorate it. I used my copics to color them and then cut them out. I also added a bunch of glitter/bling to their dresses, their wings, and to the sunshine of course. Click on the picture to get the real effect as it took me 2 days to photo these and the lighting would not cooperate.

We would love for you to join us and make your own Sparkly creation- if you post it on your blog with a link to the KLSNS design team blog and we'll enter you again. Plus, who knows what Kelly has up her sleeve, she could be giving away some other surprise "blog candies" so be sure to leave some luv everywhere! (wink!)

So lets get on with the blog hop, my word for you is GIRLS so make your way over to Sparkle's Blog.
Reminder: you must leave a comment on the DT blog and all DT member blogs to be eligible for the GRAND SPARKLY prize along with sending the correct phrase to steinrn@yahoo.com with the KLSNS SPARKLES in the subject by 9pm Saturday August 8th..

Have a Sparkly Day!

All Natural

For some reason I am into altering boxes now, this is one I got at JoAnn's for $1 and just covered with some of my sweet natural papers. I was thinking "green" when I made it and wanted it to be outdoorsy, wasn't sure what I was going to use it for (or what the recipient would use it for) so kept it simple. I covered the top with the creature paper and then the sides are done in two different coordinating papers. Here is a picture of the side of the box. The sentiment is from one of my retired SU sets stamped on nestabilities.
I hope you are all having a fabulous day!

What a pill!

Are these not the cutest pill bottles? I had them sitting on the counter now for like 3 weeks (may be more but who is countin except hubby!) so I thought I can't just throw them out. So I thought I would use them for a challenge- Stamp Something Challenge wants us to make a project using something new, well of course the bottles are not new but the Sprites on top and the paper is all new. So I covered the pill bottles with the DP which is a K&Co paper and I used red sticky tape to hold it or else it didn't want to hold well. I also used sticky tape to put the ribbon on, I had the ribbon hang over the edge of the rim so that it would fully cover the bottle lip. This is SU Rose Red grosgrain and it matched so well. I put a scallop on the top that was coordinating with the DP and then some sprites with pearls. The one bottle needed something so I added the pearls and it just was perfect. When I showed my husband what I did he got a smile on his face, looked them over and said they were pretty cool (but note, he will not put one on his desk to hold paperclips or anything! Go figure!). I am going to send the one to one of my staff- you're fabulous with something in it. What do you think?

BLOG CANDY!!!!!!!!!!!! You Must go and see what my friend RACH is giving away- a NEW YEAR BLOG CANDY that you will not want to miss..............go- check it out HERE!
