Dollar Store Cloche......

Home Decor........    after Christmas I was feeling very "blue" about the home decor.  I had put all the Christmas decorations away and it looked so bare.   I have never been one to be what I call a home decorator, I had my furniture but have never been one to collect things and decorate- didn't even really have tables or anything to collect/decorate.  So I decided, after checking out a handful of blogs, that I needed to start decorating.  So today I have a project that I found over on Liz's blog- it is making Cloches out of dollar store items- does it get any better than this?  You will love her blog, she knows how to decorate and much of her goodies she makes so better yet.  But since I have been viewing her blog I have definately gotten many ideas and done a fair amount of shopping.  :)
So this here cloche is one I made following her directions with dollar store candlestick, plate, bowl, moss and bunny.  Yep- each item was $1 so I made it for $5 and to buy one I just saw at Home Goods was about $13 but now I can change out my bunny for other seasonal items year round!
I actually bought enough to do 2 of these..... so not sure what I will do with the other one because when I bought them I had planned on painting one black- oops I got so carried away spray painting that I forgot.  The paint I used is textured and two tone- and I love it.  I told my hubby he could call me the painting maniac today.  So I leave you now with this inspiration............... check out The Tablescaper as I linking to them.

Birds and Butterflies

Hello my dear friends and thank you for stopping in today.  Today's project is one of my Gina's Designs projects.  Now you know that I loved all those Romantic Chipboard but I decided to pull out another package but still sticking to the romantic side of things- birdcages?  Well I don't know, I guess maybe it is just me but this seems romantic with a birdcage and butterflies.  The birdcage is from the ornamental birdcages pack and butterflies can be found in butterflies and dragonflies

The project itself is a 3D frame that I made using 3 old wooden frames that I had in a box in the back room.  Are you like me, have a box of them?  So I painted them all with some white paint, then I used a bit of sandpaper to distress it and then I glued them together.   The flowers are from Wild Orchid, will probably need to get some more soon!  The birdcage is painted with TH crackle paint, now I painted it the first time and then used my embossing tool to heat it up and then put another layer on it and let it dry overnight- it just gave it a more authentique look.  The butterflies I spray painted with my copic painter in a couple color of pink.
I hope you will stop back soon!

Rejoice in Easter Joy

Hello and Happy Hump Day!

It has been a couple of weeks since I actually made a card.  I have been a little more pre-occupied altering some things (I will post later, when they are done) and then doing a little re-decorating around the home.  You know how it is, you get those post holiday blues and you just have to change things up and so that is what I have been doing.

Needless to say though, I just was itching to make a card and although the next holiday to focus on is not  Easter I wanted to participate in a couple of challenges to get myself back on track.  So the card shape is for  Cheery Lynn along with using the little butterfly die to add to my cross.  The fact the card is an Easter card is for the ODBD challenge and the grunge cross is theirs (love it and have several ideas for this stamp). I rarely make shaped cards so I am glad that I went with this challenge.

I hope you all have a blessed day- stay warm if you are in the midwest because it is very cold and windy here in Michigan!

Romance and Love..............

Happy Valentine's Day my FRIENDS!  A day of LOVE ........  although we do not really celebrate Valentine's Day here I just love hearts, red, pink and of course glittery and sparkly things!   But this first photo is the top of my box as if it was an old fashioned picture....  I just had to post it because it seemed romantic. So with that I will revert back to pink, red, and glittery!  :)
This is the main focus on the box, well I think that it is the main focus because it is the glittery crown from Gina Designs.  I used a glue pad and put SU thick glitter on it and it stuck so perfectly and it shimmers so much!  oh, man- love it!   This little crown sits along side of the glittery RED heart, the glittery lips and the frosted heart.
Here we are moving to the side of the box.  The XOXO is covered in red ink and now that I am thinking of it.... I could have put glitter on it too!  LOL, ok, maybe not.
And last but not least, the TOP of the box complete.  See that beautiful swirl over there on the left?  I colored it with some light pink paint and then took some clear glue that I put along some of the edges and added some, yup- glitter!
The Word Art Romance and  Romance Packets have fabulous die cuts for Valentine's Day or anything that you want to make with the LOVE theme.  It has to be one of my favorite packets (as I am sure you can tell from all the goodies I have been posting!).

Darned that Pinterest!!

Hello!  So this last week I have been in a "creative" mode and trying new projects that I have seen on pinterest- is that place addicting or what?  So this is my take on a pedestal candy jar.  Honestly, I paid like $3 for the jar/candle stick and then just painted the candle stick and lid and added a little TH knob.  I have it at work now and it is getting some good use.  What new items have you created by looking at pinterest?

Altered Art

I had a request to make some Valentine decor to display photos  and I thought these book boards would be so perfect.  You could put them into a frame or set them on an easel on the mantle or end table with some family photos attached.   Here you can see I used some spellbinders,  SU heart punch and hearts from Cheery Lynn.

Here is the 2nd of this set.  The DSP is all SU from last year except the doily hearts: the white one is a doily and the red one came in the Amore DSP that is current.  The little double grey hearts are MS.
And then the final one.  Now this one had started out a little different but when I completed the glittery heart and SWEET word it just didn't work for me so I had to change it up and use the heart and layer with a sweet florette!  I am hoping the recipient enjoys them.

Take care and have a sweet day!

More Love..................

Hello everyone!  So, are you all done with your Valentine "decor", cards and gifts?   Well this last weekend I decided to make some items to decorate my mantle (will show pictures later IF I am happy with it).  This is a canvas board that I covered with red cardstock and then layers of SU papers, utilizing several dies and punches.  And then, to add a little dimension:   a couple of the wonderful Gina Designs laser cuts.  Specifically the heart  from the romance packet at the top left that I layered over some pretty blue embossed paper and the elegant heart from the word art set.  Both of these dies were covered with Ranger Crackle Paint.
To say the least I have a sweet little mantle board book to set on my mantle for Valentine's Day.  It would make a beautiful gift too! I  hope that you will stop back later this week for my Valentine Box (which I think is beautiful and has some sparkly/glittery designs, you won't want to miss.)

Memories

Woo Hoo it is the weekend!  Superbowl at that, who are you rootin' for?  I don't particularly care but I guess if I had to choose I would say the Raven.  No, not because they wear purple but believe me I have chosen teams based on colors.  But more because of the coach: the Raven's coach (brother) seems a little more like a good sport.

So anyways, today I am participating in the RRR challenge of monochromatic theme.  And unfortunately I needed another sympathy card, ugh..... so sad.   These stamps are Little Paper Shop since a couple people asked.

Have a great weekend my friends!
