Vintage Cigar Box

Happy Sunday! So glad that you joined me today. We've been vacationing and I thought I would show you a project that I worked on and made for a secret pal. I love how it turned out. So Friday night I pulled out a cigar box that my FIL got at the local Smoker's Outlet and painted it. I wanted it to be vintage but wanted to make it sof as well. Last week I showed you the corrugated tecnique and I used it again on the top of this box. It looks fabulous, the pictures do not do it justice. Honestly, this is a blush color and I used the same SU set to add the flowers. The paper is Graphic 45 Springtime and you can pick it up over at ABC Toys and Crafts.

Lots of distressing, tearing, and more inking with . If you enjoy grungy, ink on your fingers- you MUST try this. The flowers on the top are from Wild Orchid and layered on the Magnolia vintage tag. Ok, so I know there are no pictures of the sides, all I did was put paper on them but look at the little feet I put on this? I took pink, cream and celery colored buttons and hot glued them together. This way the box sits up a little off the table. It looks so sweet!

Ok, so the next thing was...... what should I put IN the box? Well of course it had to match and be something useful. Plus I was looking for something that would not take me another 4 hours to do.... :) So this is a little notebook that I had picked up. I used the Graphic45 paperpack again. Then added a cream colored prima flower with lots of sparkle with stickles. I used a couple die for the flourish and leaves.

So that is it! A big project this weekend completed! Now if I could get the house cleaned! :) Have a great week all!

So- that is the direction I went in for the CropStop Summer Inspiration Challenge.

CropStop Thursday- Embellish It!

Hello and welcome to another CropStop Challenge Thursday!

I hope that you have been stopping by and participating in the challenges over on the challenge site. Don't forgot you not only qualify for the weekly prize but the embossing folder prize as well. So whatcha waiting for?

With graduation peaked this month I made this little number. Of course I used the Cuttlebug Seeing Spots folder to make my flowers which are my embossed embellishment! The background on the card is made with the Darice flower petals folder- these folders are quite different I think and oh so darned cute! I used Spellbinders to cut out my sentiment and then inked the edges to make it pop! I then added a bit of pearl pen to the flowers to make em shimmer a bit. Cute?

That is it- hope you are having a good week- take care and see you next thursday for another challenge! Also dont forget about the challenges going on over on the Message Board for CropStop!

Hope

When I saw the ODBD Scrapbook Challenge which required the use of a ODBD stamp I new immediately what I would scrap. This photo was taken when my husband and I went down to Mississippi after Katrina hit with our mission team. We were out driving along the coast way and it was just all bleak and devastated. At a light, I looked to my left and this is what I saw. Daffodils amongst destruction: everything was browns and here were these beautiful yellow and green flowers- I have never felt so much HOPE and PEACE as I did at that moment. And I don't know about you- but this sentiment just always rings so true in my head- and it was perfect for this image. Here is a close up of the photo in case you can not see it well in the above picture (sorry about the glare)
Thanks for stopping by today- have a blessed weekend!

Sentiment Alone

Hello and Happy Tuesday!

I appreciate you stopping in today and hope your week is headin in the right direction. This little number is another card I made using this cute little paper that I bought. I also have a few colors of this baker's twine and really want to start using it more. I just love the little look of it criss crossed on the card, I might even try a few more criss crosses in the near future. The sentiment is a ODBD sentiment and so I am going to submit for the ODBD Sentiment Challenge #63. I hope you have a wonderful week!

Can't find the words?

Hello- another weekend has come to an end and that always makes me sad, they just go by too darned fast. It was a beautiful weekend her- sun and in the 80's! Saturday was spent at our annual Yard Sale at church and then Sunday a fun family event- which I will share in the future. For now though, lets take a look at this card. I just bought this sweet paper combination at the local going out of business sale. I only bought 1 sheet of each and just love it. I thought it would be nice with just a little sentiment on it and so I reached for one of my favorite ODBD sentiments this week. This actually fits both of ODBD challenges: Stamping in Time (fav stamp set) and then Sentiment Only Challenge. I love to make these cards and then give them to my mother to share with her Secret Sister's at church.

Sweet

Happy Saturday Evening!

Another clean and simple card today- I am trying some new color combinations out, this one being kiwi kiss and baja breeze (just love these two colors!) The sketch is from the waltzingmouse sketch challenge this week.

It is a short post- with all this fabulous weather we are getting I have been so busy and then so tired. Geesh......... but I am not complaining either. Take care and have a fabulous week!
